Occupational Safety And Safety Requirements In Industries.

In order to work in any industrial or process industry, we need to know some common equipment common process some safety rules and regulations which play a helpful role in our field of work.

Hazard is a situation or subject that refers to the abnormality of something.  For example, if we smoke and if it harms our health, it is a health risk. A natural disaster is a natural hazard for us. The field of industrial organization can be a kind of industrial hazard that can harm our social and economic life. In that case, we need to have sufficient knowledge in dealing with different types of real-life which plays a very important role in ensuring the security of any organization or family. Protecting yourself and people from any kind of hazard falls within social responsibility. All employees working in industrial establishments must have knowledge of various industrial hazards that show the efficiency of the employee in the field of work and benefit the organization and society by the employee.

We also keep knowledge about Occupational Safety And Safety Requirements In Industries and Safety Measures Associated With Confined Space.  and how can take proper mandatory safety, when we work in a confined space. As an example, we can imagine a worker's technical or maintenance work in a closed storage tank, but which is not ordinarily a habitable space. There he may encounter visible and non-visible hazards.

We will now discuss what kind of hazard a modern industrial organization can be:

  1. Mechanical Hazards,
  2. Chemical Hazards,
  3. Electrical Hazards,
  4. Physical Hazards,
  5. Fire And Explosion Hazards,
  6. Acoustic Hazards,
  7. Biological Hazards,
  8. Radiation (Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Hazards).

01. Mechanical Hazards.

(a). Material Hazard by Machine conveyors:-  The three common types of conveyors are belts, rollers, and screw conveyors. The main Hazard is the trapping of fingers, limbs, are clotting is in-running nips.

(b). Machinery Hazards:-

TRAPS-

Components whose movements could lead to trapping points where the limbs are either drawn into in-running nips or simply trapped by closing or passing movement.

IMPACTS-

Parts which due to their speed of movement could cause injury if a person gets in the way.

 CONTACTS-

Parts which because they are sharp, abrasive, hot, cold, or electrically live, could cause injury as a result of touching them.

ENTANGLEMENT-

Moving components of a machine can cause hair, rings, globes, clothing, etc, to become entangled.

EJECTION-

Hazard from components or material being worked upon being thrown out of the machine.

02. Chemical Hazards.

Chemicals are widely used in agriculture, in offices, laboratories, shops, and engineering workshops, in the home, in manufacturing and process industries, and in the machine. The hazards of chemicals stem from their inherent flammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive,e radiative, chemical reactive properties, or a combination thereof.

03. Electrical Hazards.

(a). Electric Shock-

The human body is a good conductor of electricity. These, if it becomes part of an electrical circuit current, will flow through the body to the earth. This can result in injury by the chest many contractions temporary paralysis of the nerve center, ventricular fibrillation suspension of heart action, hemorrhoids, and become of the currents heating effects, tissue damage, and burns.

(b). Short Circuit-

04. Physical Hazards.

  • Slipping-
  • Falling-

  • Cutting And Amputation-

  • Piercing-

  • Burning-

  • Exposure To Injurious Light-

05. Fire And Explosion Hazards,

06. Acoustic Hazards,

07. Biological Hazards-

  • Bacteria,
  • Virus,

  • Insects,

  • Snakes, etc.

08. Radiation (Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Hazards)-

  • Ionizing:- Energy radiation in the form of alpha, beta, gamma, and
  • Non-Ionizing:- Noise, heat, light, etc.

# Safety Requirements In Industries:-

The ultimate aim of safety and Fire Protection is the complete prevention of personal injury, loss of life, and destruction of property as a result of an accident, fires, explosions, or other hazardous situations.

  • Effective plant safety and Fire Protection extend to every Phase of operation and maintenance. Calculated risks must be reduced as far as possible, equipment and individual items must be examined not only for normal service but also for emergency demands.

  • It is important to bear in mind that static electricity may be generated during the work and appropriate measures (such as earthing) should be taken to prevent it.

  • Some major principles and practices of plant safety are mentioned. Operating personnel must be examined from time to time. For safe plant operations, detailed safety instructions must always be established.

  • Resting and sleeping inside the plant premises is prohibited and will be punished.

  • Smoking is prohibited anywhere in the plant area.

  • Personal must make full use of the safety facilities and protective equipment provided by the plant management.

  • Safety facilities and protective equipment may not be removed.

  • It is the duty of everyone to observe the rules for the prevention of accidents.

  • Working areas, passageways, and thoroughfares, floors, etc always must be adequately eliminated.

  • Passageways, and thoroughfares, floors, must be sufficient Wide and should not be blocked.

  • Do not linger under the suspended loads.

  • All machinery, tools, device, structures, stairs, and equipment must be checked for the proper condition prior to use.

  • Valves, cocks, adjustment devices, etc must not Constitute a hazard when operated.

  • Rooms in which noxious gases, vapors or dust might accumulate must be provided with facilities for easy cleaning and ventilation.

  • Rooms that might contain toxic or narcotic gases and the vapors may not be interred without supervision and until all precautionary measures have been taken.

  • Gas pipelines may not be inspected with Open Flame lighting always use soap water for leakage checks.

  • Do not pile up used cleaning rags, self inflammable, and flammable waste in the work area.

  • Switched of plant section and equipment may only be re-arranged by the same responsible person.

  • Special notes must be attached to instrument panels and switchgear making the plant section that has been switched off for repair purposes and prohibiting the recommendation.

  • Tools and other objects may not be left loose on cranes but must be stored in the toolbox provided.

  • Do not drag loads along the floor.

  • Cranes must be operated in accordance with the instructions posted in the operator's cabins.

  • Cranes and hoists must be checked periodically for their operational safety by independent experts.

  • Pressure vessels may only be used in accordance with the operating conditions specified on the rating plates.

  • Pressure vessels must be checked periodically for operational safety by independent expires.

  • All personals are acquainted with the alternative means of escape.

  • Remember the escape way leading to protected areas, escape ways in gas plants depend on the momentary direction of the wind.

Industrial Catalyst And Classification.

Principle Of Industrial Catalyst And Classification Of Catalyst.   Principle Of Industrial Catalyst : An industrial catalyst is a substance that accelerates a chemical reaction without undergoing any significant change in its own chemical composition. Catalysts work by lowering the activation energy required for the reaction to occur, thereby increasing the reaction rate. They provide an alternative pathway for the reaction to take place, which requires less energy and allows the reaction to proceed at milder conditions such as lower temperatures and pressures. Industrial catalysts are used in a wide range of chemical processes, including petrochemicals, refining, polymerization, and environmental applications. Classification Of Industrial Catalyst : Industrial catalysts can be classified into four main groups: 01. Homogeneous catalysts. Homogeneous catalysts are soluble in the reaction medium and are used mainly in the production of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. 02. Heteroge...

Difference between LNG, LPG and NGL

✅ LNG — Liquefied Natural Gas, is gas that has been Liquified at very low temp. and is transported as a liquid. It’s Primarily methane ,NG is a mixture of HC which, when liquefied, form a clear colorless, odorless liquid; it’s usually transported and stored at a temp. very close to its boiling point at atmospheric pressure (~ -160), The actual composition of LNG will vary depending on its source and on the liquefaction process, but in all cases the major is methane with small percentages of the heavier HC such as ethane, propane, butane and pentane ,N2 may be present.  ✅ LPG — Liquefied Petroleum Gas gas that is liquid near room temperature and at some extent of pressure. This product has very little methane and butane and is primarily propane (C3),LPG is more dense (has a higher specific gravity) than natural gas ,Their common characteristic is that they can be compressed into liquid at relatively low pressures ,The two most common LPG constitutes are Propane and Butan...
