Question With Answer About Turbine And Compressor In Process Plant.

The turbine is a mechanical device or mechanical mechanism that converts thermal energy to mechanical/kinetic energy. In Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Power Generation, Ammonia, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing Industries, the steam turbine is used as the driving system or driver. Such as a steam turbine used to drive a  power generator in the power plant.

Already on my site Tech Process, there are already two topics related to What Is Compressor And Compression System? Working Principle Of Compressor. and The Steam Turbine, And How It Works?  is discussed about compressors and turbines.

Let us today discuss some of the issues related to compressors and turbines that I have shared with you some of the knowledge I have gained from working on compressors and turbines that I have seen in real life.

# How many types of turbines have you seen or known about?

We usually see three types of turbines such as;

# Whats are the major parts of a turbine?

The major parts of a turbine are;

# Generally have some protective devices of a turbine;

  • Solenoid Valve,
  • Hand Trip Switch,
  • Pressure Reducing Valve,
  • Axial Displacement Trip,
  • Low Oil Pressure Trip,
  • Overspeed Trip.

# Well now, we see what is the difference between a turbine and a letdown valve?

Because of turbines and letdown valves drop their downstream steam or fluid pressure and temperature.

In both cases, pressure and temperature are decreased downstream of the device. In the case of a turbine heat energy is transformed into mechanical energy and performs some work, but in the case of a letdown valve, no work is obtained expected to lose the energy.

# Since we are talking about Turbines and Compressors, Lube Oil, Emergency Oil, and Control Oil is important issue. Which must reduce the friction of any type of rotating or moving parts and use lube oil as a cooling agent.

As an example, we can say, e.g. Lube oil system and cooling oil system are very important for turbines, pumps, wind turbines, air compressors, rotary compressors, rotary equipment, moving equipment, i.e. any type of moving and rotating equipment.

#What are the function of Lube Oil, Emergency Oil, and Control Oil?

#Why overhead lube oil tank is used in a turbine?

=> The Lubricating Oil serves in part to create a film that lifts and supports the shaft and prevents it from coming into contact with the bearing walls. In part to cool the bearings and keep them at an acceptable temperature. Lube oil overhead tank is used to supply Lube oil for the time being at the time when lube oil header pressure became too low or Turbine And Compressor In Process Plant is tripped.

We maintain a continuous little flow to the lube oil overhead tank to maintain the desired temperature of lube oil and for keeping the freshness of the oil inside. So that it contains the usable quality at the time, when lube oil will come down by the same way through check valve under gravitational force to the oil headers, after tripping of the machine, due to too low header pressure to perform its lubrication work

=> And the function of Emergency oil is to meet emergencies for the lack of lube oil in the normal Lube oil system. If any turbine or compressor is shut down due to low lube oil pressure. Then for the safety of the turbine or compressor and to keep the emergency lubrication system running, the emergency oil supply system is maintained through the emergency lube oil pump.

=> The function of Control Oil is to control the steam regulating valve of the turbine, with the aid of some controlling device in the Control Oil System. Also, maintain the speed of the turbine as per demand. It also serves to trip the machine with the help of some safety devices according to their predetermined set value. Control oil serves also to regulate the Sealing Steam, Control Oil also takes Part in the open-close mechanism of the Emergency Stop Valve (ESV) of the turbine.

Industrial Catalyst And Classification.

Principle Of Industrial Catalyst And Classification Of Catalyst.   Principle Of Industrial Catalyst : An industrial catalyst is a substance that accelerates a chemical reaction without undergoing any significant change in its own chemical composition. Catalysts work by lowering the activation energy required for the reaction to occur, thereby increasing the reaction rate. They provide an alternative pathway for the reaction to take place, which requires less energy and allows the reaction to proceed at milder conditions such as lower temperatures and pressures. Industrial catalysts are used in a wide range of chemical processes, including petrochemicals, refining, polymerization, and environmental applications. Classification Of Industrial Catalyst : Industrial catalysts can be classified into four main groups: 01. Homogeneous catalysts. Homogeneous catalysts are soluble in the reaction medium and are used mainly in the production of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. 02. Heteroge...

Difference between LNG, LPG and NGL

✅ LNG — Liquefied Natural Gas, is gas that has been Liquified at very low temp. and is transported as a liquid. It’s Primarily methane ,NG is a mixture of HC which, when liquefied, form a clear colorless,odorless liquid; it’s usually transported and stored at a temp. very close to its boiling point at atmospheric pressure (~ -160), The actual composition of LNG will vary depending on its source and on the liquefaction process, but in all cases the major is methane with small percentages of the heavier HC such as ethane, propane, butane and pentane ,N2 may be present.  ✅ LPG — Liquefied Petroleum Gas gas that is liquid near room temperature and at some extent of pressure. This product has very little methane and butane and is primarily propane (C3),LPG is more dense (has a higher specific gravity) than natural gas ,Their common characteristic is that they can be compressed into liquid at relatively low pressures ,The two most common LPG constitutes are Propane and Butan...
